Our parents' generation didn't truly have to do very much in the way of creating a resignation plan for themselves. The companies they worked for had pension funds, and the federal government promised them both group safety and Medicare.

In fact, our grandparents' and parents' generations were probably the first generations of American adults that didn't have to fear abject poverty in their resignation years. That was a huge step up!

However, our Baby Boom generation is facing a new kind of retirement. Most of us don't have pension funds. We're not sure we can count on group Security, and we know that Medicare alone isn't the best fall-back plan for our post-retirement healthcare needs.

To top it off, most of us haven't seen whatever vaguely resembling job safety for more than 20 years, and the new financial urgency has done a good job of trashing our resignation investments.

So what are we going to do? It's time to start planning-now-to make sure our second lives are as good or even better than our first ones.

I've been where you are now. I'm an over-50 Baby Boomer. Just like you, I've lived the transition from a group covenant where retirees were taken care of to one where it seems like it's every man for himself, both before and after retirement.

And I've found ways to protect my family's finances and start enjoying a resignation that's every bit as fetch and as full of freedom as I could have ever hoped it would be. It's my delight to share my discoveries with you.

So how do you start planning for a resignation that's truly a second life? First I want you to take stock of where you are right now. Do you need to start seeing at creative ways to growth and support your income as you retire? Is it time you truly started paying attention to all of the news out there about diet and health? Are you just starting to comprehend that your nest is empty, and you're not sure how to cope a resignation without kids to take care of and a job to juggle?

Yes, seeing at all of these facets of our lives at once can feel scary. But don't give in to fear! You don't have to tie yourself to a corporation or fill your resignation time with empty activities just because there aren't any children colse to to dictate your schedule.

Ladies, you're about to be free. As free as we all were when we were younger-but with the wisdom and sense to truly enjoy that freedom as we "retire" into our second lives.

More than that, I'm going to show you what I've done to originate a full post-retirement life without having to fill my life with commitments and activities that I don't enjoy. So for right now, just take stock of where you are financially, physically, emotionally, and even spiritually if that is something that has meaning for you. Once you know where you are, you can start mental about what you want your second life to look like.
